COVID-19: Nigeria Hits Fresh Daily Record of 1,664 New Infections

 

Nigeria has recorded 1,664 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update on Wednesday night.

According to the centre, in the last 24 hours, 903 recoveries were recorded.

It noted that the discharges include 388 community recoveries in Lagos State, 261 in Kaduna State, 87 in Plateau State and 20 in Imo State managed in line with guidelines.

But 5 new deaths were also recorded.

22 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded new cases on Wednesday.

Again, Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with 642. The FCT recorded 407 new cases while Plateau recorded 160 new cases.

Also, Kaduna State recorded 83 new infections while Rivers State recorded 62.
Others are from Adamawa-47, Nasarawa-38, Abia-29, Edo-28, Anambra-27, Niger-24, Ogun-24, Imo-15, Oyo-14, Kano-12, Osun-12, Borno-9, Delta-7, Enugu-7, Bauchi-5, Ekiti-5, Sokoto-5, and Jigawa-2.

The total number of confirmed cases is now 94,369.

So far, 77,299 recoveries and 1,318 fatalities have been recorded.

Health authorities have continued to advise Nigerians to adhere to safety guidelines as Nigeria battles the second wave of the pandemic.
